The boat tours will be led by park rangers and youth interns from the River Ambassadors Program of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The tours will lead from the boathouse on the river to the Guard Locks historic site on the Pawtucket Canal. The tour guides will explain how the canals were used for transportation and industry, as well as touching on themes dealing with the environmental history of the Merrimack River Watershed. This will be a great opportunity for spectators to get out on the water without being in one of the Festival's racing boats.
